ABOUT US

Sharing our passion for the art of distinctive choral singing with the greater Milwaukee community

The Bach Chamber Choir was founded in Milwaukee in 1969 and has performed continuously in the Milwaukee area since then. Our choir performs music from the medieval to the modern classics and beyond.

The group consists of amateur, student, and professional musicians who present concerts throughout the season. The singers audition in order to become part of the ensemble. The music is free and we strive to keep the yearly dues affordable.

Our director and accompanist are professional musicians and are our only paid staff members.

We'll travel to:

  •  Europe (France modern, Austria 18th century, England 20th century) via composers Maurice Duruflé, Franz Shubert and John Rutter

  •  Jewish America 20th century, Leonard Bernstein

  •  African America out of slavery, Brazeal Dennard

  •  Christian America 20th century, Randall Thompson.

The pieces include the glorious "Mass No. 2 in G Major" by Schubert (one of the most popular settings of the mass ordinary), the a cappella "Quatre Motets sur des thèmes Grégoriens" (Four Motets on Gregorian themes) by Duruflé, "Make Our Garden Grow" from "Candide" by Bernstein, "Alleluia" by Thompson and "A Gaelic Blessing" by Rutter. And there is so much more, including chamber orchestra!

CHOIR FOR HIRE

The Bach Chamber Choir is available to provide music for any occasion - including weddings and other church celebrations, funerals and celebrations of life, holiday gatherings, and private parties - in the metro-Milwaukee area. The choir’s repertoire is very diverse - ranging from spirituals to music for a high mass, and from soothing a cappella pieces to lush, accompanied works.

Additionally, the Bach Chamber Choir Carolers – adorned in beautiful and authentic Victorian costumes – are available for holiday parties of any size! Our premier caroling group has performed Christmas favorites at many annual traditions: Christmas in the (Third) Ward, the Town Tree Lighting at The Corners of Brookfield, the Resident Holiday Party at St. John’s on the Lake, as pre-show artists for the MSO Holiday Pops performance at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center, company and church Christmas parties, and holiday gatherings at private residences. We even sang carols and the National Anthem for a Milwaukee Bucks game!
